We love keeping an eye out on what is happening in the wedding dress world. Instagram and Pinterest has made it easy to keep up with international wedding dress trends. We South Africans tend to adopt a trend a bit later than the rest of the world but with our incredible local designers creating wedding dresses relevant to current international trends it is easy to get ahead. Our favourite wedding dress trends for 2019 are:
The Plain Wedding Dress
We are seeing well-structured plain wedding dresses all over the show with top international designers such as Chosen By One Day and Enzoani wowing us with plain wedding dresses in interesting designs. What we love about a plain wedding dress is that the dress puts the focus on the bride. It is striking in its simplicity. A plain wedding dress is timeless and elegant, and by choosing such a dress for your wedding day you will be sure to still love your wedding dress when you look back at your photos for years to come. We will have a variety of plain wedding dresses to choose from soon.
Mermaid silhouette with tulle half tulle skirt
We love a mermaid silhouette as it is so flattering on most bodies when done right. But we find that many brides feel self-conscious in this style as it can be quite revealing as it is so figure-hugging. Que the half-tulle skirt. This skirt is only at the back of the dress, thus the front gives you the mermaid look with the back skirt covering any real or imagined bumps and lumps. Our Arabella wedding dress by Chanelle Cindy Bridal is the perfect dress in this style with its beaded lace and delicate details.
Halter Neck Wedding Dresses
This is one of our favourite trends for the year as this silhouette is so flattering on all figures. It provides fabulous support for fuller busts and cinches the waist. We have two gorgeous halter neck wedding dresses available in store for you to try on and see for yourself!
Coloured Wedding Dresses
Brides are opting more and more for blush, grey and beige toned wedding dresses and we have a wide variety of styles in different colour options available to try on. In most cases these colours are quite subtle but sometimes we have a bride that pushes the envelope and goes all out with a black wedding dress! Remember that there are no more rules in wedding dress styles and that you should feel free to express your amazing self in your wedding dress.
Wedding Dresses with bows
We are very excited about this trend as we love a good bow! We are seeing over large bows on shoulders and backs, and think that it is the ultimate statement of sophistication. We will be getting a few wedding dresses in with bows for the daring bride soon.
