Corné
Our gorgeous Wishbone & Ivory Real Bride Corné got married in the Garden Route on the September long weekend of 2021. We caught up with her to find out how her and her hubby’s long story unfolded and to get a few wedding planning tips.
How did you meet your husband and how did you get engaged?
Justin and I met at university. We were chemistry lab partners – haha cliché, right?
We got engaged at the Lion Sands Game Reserve. Justin popped the question in the Kingston Treehouse where we spent the night. We both have a deep love for nature, and this was truly a magical experience.
Where did you get married and why did you choose that venue and time of year for your wedding?
We got married at Barrington’s in Plett. This was Justin’s only veto – to get married somewhere along the Garden Route. We chose September since it’s not too warm that time of year and there’s a long weekend for future anniversaries 😉
What was the vibe of your wedding?
I’d say our vibe was classic, simplistic, and true.
How did you hear about The Wedding Collective?
My sister told me. She came across TWC when planning her own wedding.
What made you choose your wedding dress?
This might sound funny, but I really felt like a BRIDE when I put my dress on for the first time and after that none of the other options even came close anymore.
How was your wedding dress experience from fittings to the final product?
It was such an easy and stress-free process. I think it was one of my favourite wedding planning items. The dress fittings were always fun, and I really felt listened to when making comments during fittings.
Do you have any advice or tips for new brides-to-be looking for their perfect wedding dress?
Don’t settle! Get the dress YOU want even if it isn’t what others expect. Make sure you’re comfortable as well.
Who was your wedding photographer?
Any other vendors you would like to recommend to new brides-to-be?
Anja from Deftig Hair Salon is amazing at what she does.
What was your most memorable part of your wedding day?
Right before we walked into the reception, we had a perfect view of our long table and all our loved ones already seated. It was amazing seeing all the planning and ideas come together but more than that it was so special seeing all our favourite people sitting around the same table and enjoying the day with us. And of course seeing my hubby while walking down the aisle.
Do you have any advice regarding the overall planning of a wedding?
Try not to stress too much. The planning is the biggest part of your wedding experience so make sure you can look back to this time with fond memories.
Delegate a few tasks. You probably have so many people asking if they can help you – put them to work!
Something probably will go wrong. If you prepare yourself beforehand then it’ll be so much easier to move on when it happens. Remember, no one but you knows what it was supposed to be like. Just go with the flow and enjoy this magical day! It really does go by in a heartbeat.
